Beatrice

WOW!  I had some food at a shower a few weeks ago and it was delicious!!  Then the next night I thought I was going to die.  Several of us got a dose of food poisoning and mine lasted over two weeks.  The upside is I'm down 5 pounds!!  Every little bit helps!!  I can't believe how sick we got.  When I'm cooking I'm like a crazy germ freak so getting poisoned isn't even something I think about.  Probably with all the travel   to get to the party something went wrong.  Now I'm going to be in hand wash over time!!  Two weeks with no internet, no art work, just bed.  It's like I lost a part of my life.
Anyhow, here's a new necklace I finally got done.
Beatrice is simply an assemblage of wonderful elements.  A large metal plate layered with papers and text, coated several times with a clear varnish.  Old hinge with a panic button dangle, vintage pocket watch face with an old bee with a ruby red crystal on his back.  Clay beads and pewter swirls, small black Japanese beads and a toggle clasp.  A nice big bold chunky necklace.  I love a great focal piece for a simple outfit.  This is it!  Measures:  chain has a 25 inch drop, with a 3 x 4 inch big bee pendant.   available for purchase at http://www.pinkflamingo61.etsy.com

My hair smells of fresh lemons and you can see your reflection in the shine!

For the last few days I've been close to death from food poisoning. Okay, I wasn't going to die, but was wishing for it in the middle of Sunday night. The upside is, I lost four pounds! YAY!! I have to teach a class this morning. Thankfully, I just started classes in my studio at home, so there's no forty minute drive to work. In my semi unconscious state I pulled on clothes, did my hair and stumbled to the bathroom to spritz some hairspray on my aging locks. Hmmm, they must have changed the scent in my favorite brand, I hold the bottle out for my eyes to adjust to the print and it's not hairspray but PLEDGE! Lemony fresh Pledge to put a shine on my furniture. I can't believe I've now become one of those crazy women who bumble around the house doing brainless things in the fog of their life. I'm going to blame this event on the aftereffects of the poisoning. I am not that crazy woman yet! Really! Now let me go get the iron out of the refrigerator and put some toast in the hamper.  First aid bracelet for the mentally challenged housewife!

UNBELIEVABLE TRASH TO TREASURE!!

My student and friend, Marj Epp, came through again with a winner!!  A trash to treasure to top the treasure list!!  She took an old lipstick tube, emptied it, painted, then  polymer clay sculpted it.  As you turn the "lipstick" up out pops a baby bird waiting for her breakfast!!  Just look at the pictures and pretend you're screwing up the stick.  This is just pure fun.  I love Marj's mind!

FREE CLIP ART PICTURES I'm sharing for your art work.

I'm posting some free pictures for you to use in your collage and altered art.  Please don't use them to sell as collage sheets or images.  If you use them in your art, please mention you got them from Pinkflamingo61.  Thank you. PINK

Wall Hangings by Marjorie Epp of Pennsylvania

Today I'm sharing a picture of a wall hanging an artist friend of mine made.  I'm going to interview her and give links to her shops next week.  She would like to get her shops in better shape before I show more of her work and give the links.  This is a preview.  Hopefully this week I'll have more information to share with you but I thought a little photo tease might be nice!

Happy Sunday!  I'm having a sale today in my supply shop and my jewelry shop.  Let me know you saw it here first and I'll add some fun charms to your order for free.
Don't forget to remind me of the offer so I don't forget!!

Finally! One room done, three to go!!

Finally, I have one room completely cleaned and organized.  Progress at last. I'm going to let the pictures do the talking tonight.  Sewing room done, art studio, jewelry room and etsy room to go.

Three Weeks and Still Cleaning the Studio!

Week three and I’m still trying to organize my supplies and art rooms!  Imagine spending that much time on a project and still not having it finished!  Yesterday I had shelves put up in my sewing room.  I spent the evening folding fabric and stacking it by color on the shelves and into giant plastic bins.  There are probably about 40 bins around the house now.  You should buy stock in RubberMaid.

So many tubes of seed beads,  not just in the sewing room, they’re in the kitchen, living room, art room, probably in the bathroom if you open a cabinet and look.  My husband has (had) a really great wood chest for tools that I “borrowed” for the organization of seed beads.  Each drawer can have it’s own color.  About half the drawers are full so far.   It’s hard to stay on task and finish a project, too many things to excite me.    A beautiful bead I had stashed out of site, silky, vintage, satin ribbons in a drawer or an article pulled from a magazine for later reference.  How can I not stop and look?  I’m thinking probably two more weeks before this job gets done.  I’m not giving up though.  I work on it a bit every day.  It’s even gotten to be a pleasure revisiting some forgotten treasures hidden away in my unorganized mess.

Bar Mitzvah making a present: Mezuzah

When Ben was about 5 years old, I met him as a student, in one of my art classes.   Absolutely one of the cutest, smartest, funniest kids I've known.  He drew pictures, complete with stories,  that he would pull from his mind.  At dinner, my family had to listen to me tell about this wonderful, talented child I had the pleasure of being with.    His mother, who also is multi talented, funny and just fun to be with, and I have become friends.  I’ve been invited to Ben’s Bar Mitzvah this month.  I’m making him a Mezuzah.  The pictures are in progress, I haven't applied the gold and copper leaf.  His mother is getting the prayer to place inside.
